The World Interreligious Center has, along with the Non-Profit Organization Man Center, helped organize three editions of the “World Conference for the Peace and Welfare of Peoples” held under the patronage of the Presidency of the Council, the European Commission and the U.N.

FIRST WORLD CONFERENCE FOR THE PEACE AND WELFARE OF PEOPLES

Monastery of Sargiano (Arezzo), August 1999

With the Patronage of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers


Researchers from 4 continents met in the historic monastery of Sargiano near Arezzo to establish the "World Ecumenical Conference for the Peace and Welfare of Peoples", promoted by the international Association Man Center with the Presidency of Pier Franco Marcenaro.

The Conference analyzed the issues related to the many conflicts,marginalization, poverty and environmental degradation, of which our planet currently suffers, in order to find a path to peace and welfare for all of humanity, with the revival of the highest ethical and spiritual values in the third millennium.

At the end of the meeting, they approved the establishment of the World Ecumenical Center – now World Interreligious Center – for the peace and welfare of peoples, which is to continue the activities outlined during the Conference.

A final report was also drafted and signed by 20 members of different nations and 30 Italian members, presented to the heads of government of the world's major nations.

SECOND WORLD CONFERENCE FOR THE PEACE AND WELFARE OF PEOPLES

Monastery of Sargiano (Arezzo), 29 June - 7 July 2002
With the Patronage of the European Commission


The topics of peace and welfare of peoples were tackled on the central days of the Conference by leading personalities of the various religions of the world, of politics, culture and science.

This was then followed by seminars on the respect for and enhancement of the environment, the issue of the marginalization of individuals and nations, dialog between different cultures and religions and the revival of moral and spiritual values in the world.

The Concluding Report, signed by the members, was subsequently presented to the heads of government of the world's major nations.

THIRD WORLD CONFERENCE FOR THE PEACE AND WELFARE OF PEOPLES

Monastery of Sargiano (Arezzo),  4 and 5 June 2005
With the Patronage of the U.N.

The path to peace through dialog between cultures and religions, the commitment against marginalization, the protection and valorization of the environment for sustainable development and the revival of values were the themes of the Conference.

Researchers from five continents took part and, in the Concluding Report, signed by 50 Italian delegates and 50 delegates from other countries, they suggested workable ways with which to deal with the serious problems of the contemporary world.
